About us
Wood Pellets Shop started with a simple idea: buying pellets should never involve guesswork.
Yet many bags say “premium” without any certification, and flavored BBQ pellets rarely explain their blend.
So we built a store that explains what each pellet is, what it suits and what it doesn’t.
Today we supply heating pellets, BBQ pellets, concentrated smoking pellets and full truckloads.
Best of all, every order ships free, whatever its size.
Certified heating fuel
ENplus A1 or PFI Premium certification on every heating pellet we sell.
Clear compatibility notes
We flag what each pellet suits, including pellets that don’t belong in hopper-fed grills.
Free delivery, every order
No minimums and no surprise shipping costs, from one bag to a truckload.
Trade and bulk supply
Full truckloads and wholesale options for dealers and commercial heating.
Looking to buy wood pellets online? Our store stocks fuel for heating, grilling, smoking and pizza ovens.
Moreover, every order ships free, whether you need a single bag or a complete truckload.
The range covers certified heating pellets, all-natural BBQ pellets, concentrated smoking pellets and bulk pallets.
As a result, you can stock every pellet appliance you own from one place.
Better still, each product page lists real specifications and clear compatibility notes before you buy.
Wood pellets are small cylinders of compressed sawdust and wood shavings, usually 6mm or 8mm wide.
First, mills grind sawmill residues into a fine, even material.
Next, large dryer drums bring that material down to a consistent moisture level.
Then, presses force the dry sawdust through a steel die under very high pressure.
That pressure creates heat, which releases lignin, the natural binder already present in timber.
Finally, a cooler hardens the hot pellets before bagging.
Because lignin does the binding, quality pellets need no glue or chemical additives.
In fact, compression shrinks the raw material to roughly 15% of its original volume.
Consequently, pellets pack far more energy into each bag than loose logs or chips.
Not all heating pellets perform alike, so independent quality standards matter.
In the UK and Europe, ENplus A1 is the leading certification for premium heating pellets.
Meanwhile, buyers in the US and Canada usually look for the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) Premium grade.
| Grade | Ash | Moisture | Fines in bags |
|---|---|---|---|
| ENplus A1 | ≤ 0.7% | ≤ 10% | ≤ 0.5% |
| ENplus A2 | ≤ 1.2% | ≤ 10% | ≤ 0.5% |
| PFI Premium | ≤ 1% | ≤ 8% | ≤ 0.5% |
| PFI Standard | ≤ 2% | ≤ 10% | Not listed |
Low ash means fewer clinkers and less cleaning, while low moisture means faster ignition and more usable heat.
However, the word “premium” alone guarantees nothing, because anyone can print it on a bag.
Therefore, always look for the actual ENplus or PFI mark before you buy heating pellets.
Every heating pellet in our store carries ENplus A1 or PFI Premium certification.
Many buyers assume hardwood always burns hotter. Surprisingly, softwood pellets often deliver more heat per pound.
For example, CleanFire Essential Hardwood produces 8,400 BTU/lb with 0.52% ash.
By comparison, CleanFire Superior Softwood reaches 8,800 BTU/lb with just 0.37% ash.
Meanwhile, the Ultra Douglas Fir grade tops the range at 9,200 BTU/lb and only 0.22% ash.
Softwood pellets also tend to ignite faster and leave less ash behind.
On the other hand, dense hardwood pellets burn steadily, which many owners prefer for long, even heat.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your stove, your climate and how you run your fire.
Pellet grills burn pellets as both fuel and flavor, so your choice shapes every cook.
For that reason, BBQ pellets use hardwoods chosen for clean, flavorful smoke rather than raw heat output.
In contrast, many heating pellets are softwood, which can leave a harsh taste on food.
Bear Mountain BBQ pellets contain all-natural hardwood with no flavorings, fillers or additives.
Moreover, they suit Traeger, Pit Boss, Louisiana Grills and Green Mountain Grills models.
Also worth knowing: many flavored BBQ pellets blend a base hardwood, such as oak or maple, with the named wood.
That blending is normal across the industry, so read labels closely if you want a single species.
Pellet grills produce the most smoke at low temperatures, typically between 165°F and 225°F.
At higher settings, the pellets burn more efficiently, so visible smoke drops.
So, start low and slow, then raise the heat to finish your cook.
Some appliances use pellets purely for flavor rather than as their main fuel.
For these, concentrated smoking pellets such as Kona deliver pure, undiluted hardwood smoke.
They contain no fillers, binders or flavor oils, so the taste comes from real wood.
Typically, one scoop of a third to half a cup gives 30 to 90 minutes of smoke.
Important: Kona pellets are not designed for hopper-fed pellet grills such as Traeger.
Instead, use them in a Ninja Woodfire grill, a smoker tube or scattered over charcoal.
Pellet-fired pizza ovens need fuel that reaches very high temperatures quickly and burns cleanly.
Low-dust, high-heat 6mm pellets suit them best, because dust and ash disrupt the flame.
EcoBlaze 6mm pellets combine a high heat output with low dust in easy-carry 15kg bags.
Additionally, the same pellets suit pellet stoves and biomass boilers, so one fuel covers several appliances.
Dealers, commercial boilers, farms and community group buys often need far more than a few pallets.
For them, a full truckload lowers the cost per tonne and replaces dozens of small orders.
In the UK and Europe, a typical truckload carries 22 to 24 pallets, up to about 25 tonnes.
Similarly, North American truckloads usually carry around 20 to 24 pallets of 40 lb bags.
Better yet, delivery stays free, even for a complete trailer.
As a rough guide, a standard 40 lb bag lasts anywhere from 8 to 26 hours.
Stove size, thermostat setting, insulation and outdoor temperature all change that figure.
Consequently, homes that heat mainly with pellets usually buy by the pallet rather than the bag.
Low-and-slow smoking typically uses about 0.5 to 1 kg (1 to 2 lb) of pellets per hour.
By contrast, high-heat searing can burn 1.5 to 2 kg (3 to 4 lb) per hour.
In practice, a 20 lb (9 kg) bag covers roughly 15 to 20 hours of smoking.
However, wind, cold weather and poor insulation raise consumption, so keep a spare bag ready.
Moisture is the main enemy of pellet fuel, because pellets absorb water straight from the air.
Stored correctly, quality pellets can last well over a year without losing performance.
Also, stored pellets can release carbon monoxide, so always ventilate large pellet stores well.
Bag sizes, standards and units vary by region, so here is what to expect where you live.
Heating pellets usually come in 15kg bags, sold singly, by the half pallet or by the full pallet.
ENplus A1 is the benchmark grade, with a minimum net calorific value of 4.6 kWh per kg.
If you live in a UK smoke control area, check that your appliance holds Defra exemption first.
Here, heating pellets typically come in 40 lb bags, with 50 bags making roughly a one-ton pallet.
PFI Premium is the grade to look for, and quality heating pellets typically deliver at least 8,000 BTU per pound.
Meanwhile, BBQ pellets usually come in 20 lb bags for pellet grills and smokers.
Demand for heating pellets peaks between October and January, which can tighten stock.
Therefore, ordering early secures your winter supply before shortages hit.
There are plenty of places to buy pellets, yet few explain what you are actually buying.
In short, we help you choose the right pellets the first time.
Choose certified heating pellets in the diameter your stove manual recommends, usually 6mm.
ENplus A1 or PFI Premium pellets keep ash low, so your stove stays cleaner for longer.
We don’t recommend it. Many heating pellets are softwood, which can leave a harsh taste on food.
Instead, choose BBQ pellets made from hardwoods selected for clean, flavorful smoke.
No. Kona pellets are concentrated smoking pellets for Ninja Woodfire grills, smoker tubes and charcoal grills.
For hopper-fed grills such as Traeger, use full-size BBQ pellets like Bear Mountain.
Yes. Every order ships free, from a single bag to a complete truckload.
A 40 lb bag of heating pellets lasts roughly 8 to 26 hours in a pellet stove.
Meanwhile, a 20 lb bag of BBQ pellets covers about 15 to 20 hours of low-and-slow smoking.
ENplus A1 is the top European quality grade for heating pellets.
It caps ash at 0.7%, moisture at 10% and fines in bags at 0.5%.
Keep bags sealed, dry and off the floor in a well-ventilated space.
Good pellets snap cleanly, whereas soft or swollen pellets have absorbed moisture.
Yes. Dealers, farms and commercial buyers can order full truckloads at a lower cost per tonne.
